We are the IBEW Electricians of York, Pennsylvania For over 100 years, IBEW 229 electricians and our affiliated electrical contractors have been performing the highest standard of electrical construction, service, and maintenance in the York and Adams County region of Central Pennsylvania. In July of 1904 a man named E.P. Allman who was the 3rd District Vice President of the IBEW came to York.
He gathered electrical workers and chartered IBEW Local 469 as a "mixed" local of wireman and lineman.
The first president of Local 469 was a 27 year old man named Effinger Lucas.
Recording Secretary was Dwight (G.M.) Wallick and Financial Secretary was a man named H.
In later years Chauncey Stough and Effinger Lucas were partner's in Stough & Lucas Electrical in York.
This company had continued on and off relations with the IBEW in York.
To organize all workers in the entire electrical industry in the United States and Canada, including all those in public and electrical manufacturing, into local unions.
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 229 is York Pennsylvania's leading labor organization in the electrical construction industry.

IBEW 229 members have also completed volunteer electrical services for Hanover Area Red Cross.
